Singapore had no waves for surfing, and California was on the other side of the world – until Wave House brought it all to Sentosa.
Wave House Sentosa is the fourth and newest installation in an archipelago of Wave Houses that stretches from Durban in South Africa, to San Diego in California, and to Santiago in Chile. If the other Wave Houses are anything to go by, thrill-seeking wave riders, be they pros or novices, won’t be able to get enough of the revolutionary wave machines at Sentosa.
Invented by Tom Lochtefeld, the founder and CEO of Wave House (and a surfer himself), these machines pump water at speed over stationary curved walls and waveforms to generate barrelling and smooth waves. The waveform is a proprietary composite membrane ride surface that is designed to absorb the energy of impacts. So rest assured – even if you wipeout, you’ll soon be back on your feet.
Flowboarding is not just a ride, it is a sport – a twenty-first century alchemy that has the look of surfing, the ride of snowboarding, the tricks of skateboarding, and boards derived from wakeboarding. Since the early 1990s, the world’s best board riders have cross-pollinated into flowboarding. This new alternative board sport is taken seriously from the mountains to the sea.
The variety of areas and attractions at Wave House Sentosa will create diverse beach experiences and offer something for everyone – perfect for all kinds of gatherings, from private events like birthdays, to school trips, to corporate parties.
All who come to Wave House Sentosa will get a taste of the California lifestyle, and all that comes with it – fun in the sun, fantastic food and drinks, a retail heaven and an awesome music venue.
