One of the best outdoor activities for adults and kids. It's a lot of fun - compete with friends and with friends. Great for fitness and stamina.

Dragon boating is great for fitness building stamina and also upper body strength. It is also great for team building as it forces people to work together in order to make the Dragon boat go as fast as possible. Aside from that, It's great FUN!

The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most spectacular traditions of ancient China. It is an exciting period for rowing competitions marked by the eating of rice dumpling called "Ma Chang". In some Chinese-speaking societies, the day is also known as the "Poets' Day".

The ritual aspect of dragon boat racing has a deep cultural heritage and springs from religious beliefs. The colourful and traditional rites are preformed on the dragon boats before and after the races. They reflect deep reverence for the vessels despite certain degrees of variation in the procedures followed by the believers.

The open recruitment for men and women national paddlers in our Dragon Boat teams is now open. You must be:
A Singapore Citizen
Able to swim 50 metres (any style) and tread water for 1 minute
Below 25 years old as at 31st December 2000
Be physically and medically fit
Minimum height : Men - 1.65m, Women - 1.58m
Weight : Men - 60kg to 70kg, Women - 50kg to 60kg

The first fleet of dragon boats, made of fibre glass, were given to the SDBA. Subsequently, new fleets of dragon boats were also donated to the SDBA by various sources. The SDBA has it turn donated some dragon boats to Japan, Sweden, Germany and the USA to assist in the promotion of the sport in these countries. Currently, the SDBA has twenty-two dragon boats and eighteen 12-crew dragon boats.

Currently the SDBA has:

1. 27 numbers of 20-crew dragon boats
2. 28 numbers of 10-crew dragon boats
3. 26 numbers of IDBF Racing 20-crew dragon boats
4. 2 numbers of IDBF Racing 10-crew dragon boats
