Settlers Cafe is a lifestyle cafe in Singapore. What stands out at Settlers is that it is the first  cafe offering unique board and card games that cannot be easily found elsewhere in Singapore.

The cafe offers western cuisine on its menu as well as interesting drinks concocted by its staff. One of the reasons why people flock to Settlers is that it is like having a gathering at someone's home without the hassle of cleaning up the place!

Started in October 2003, our objective is to let people be aware of board games as a fun form of creative socialising that promotes bonding and learning.

Our vision is to see board games becoming popular again as a form of recreation.

Settlers Cafe also believes in games as educational tools. Examples of such games are Ticket to Ride (learning the geography of USA), Acquire (Simple concept of company mergers), Modern Art (Appreciating art through auction) and Bohnanza (negotiation for best bean deals) to name a few.

What are the alternative games that we can offer?

Puerto Rico, Pit, Oasis, Settlers of Catan. Most of these games are not carried by major retailers, yet they are award winning board games from Europe. Fast to play, simple to grasp, the games are FUN!

At the same time, most of these games promote interaction, like bargaining, trading with each other, fostering and building strong bonds while teaching the basics of negotiations.

Our Passion

Settlers Cafe has a burning PASSION: To spread the fun of board games throughout Singapore! We have penetrated the educational institutes and communities through our Settlers Lite Project, to bring young people back to the love of board games. At the same time, Settlers Cafe is working with visionary partners, such as Alpha Plus Training, who aim to bring education through games as well as developing their own games.

More than a Board Games Cafe...

Settlers Cafe is the only organising body actively promoting the board game lifestyle, by organising a series of board game events at the national level, with different partners. These events include:

• Meridian JC's Faire Marcher Board Games Convention 2006
• Singapore Board Game Championship (SBGC) 2006
• Settlers of Catan Singapore Nationals 2006
• Singapore Boardgame Nationals 2007 (Including Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne National Championship)

Events such as the Settlers of Catan Nationals and Carcassonne Nationals has given the chance for Singapore gamers to be represented in the prestigious World Settlers of Catan Championship and Carcassonne World Championship, held in Essen Germany every October.

Favourite Event Location

Settlers Cafe is also a great venue to hold talks, seminars and even product launches. Since the cafe started in October 2003, requests have been streaming in for Financial Talks and Workshops, How To Seminars, Corporate Retreats, Team Buildings and even Career Building Workshops.

The group booking packages that we offer cover from serious to fun, including themed parties. To date, the largest event held was the Area00 Meeting, a gathering of online gaming enthusiast, where over 130 participants thronged the place as they discussed their online game development.
