What we do and how you can help
Please Contact Us if you're interested in helping the following causes:
The Foundation has supported a robust portfolio of projects tackling issues in the areas of education, eldercare, water and sanitation. For example,
* Children with special needs are given the chance of a mainstream pre-school education.
* People with early dementia can seek specific help to stem the disease’s progress.
* Home nursing and medical staff are provided with a mobile medical information solution to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.
* Developmental work and rural applications to deal with problems in water, sanitation, and shelter are being tackled by two newly created NGOs.
* Tsunami stricken areas like Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia have received practical help to rebuild lives.
Why we are special
The Lien Foundation pioneers new ground in philanthropy by forging strategic partnerships and catalysing action on social and environmental challenges. Our model of philanthropy goes beyond the traditional role of donor-sponsor. We endeavour to make a difference by seeking out and addressing the root cause of problems. We take a radical approach and invest in innovative solutions, often challenging existing conventions.
The Lien Foundation was founded in 1980 by Dr. Lien Ying Chow, an eminent business leader, banker and hotelier. His influence went beyond the private sector and Singapore – as a community leader, diplomat, and philanthropist.
Today, the Lien Foundation continues Dr. Lien Ying Chow’s legacy of helping the needy and deprived in our society.

More About Us
KEY FOCUS AREAS:
Education
The Lien Foundation advocates education as an agent of change and empowerment. We support educational programmes and projects with potential long-term benefits to society. For example, we are developing leadership and capacity within Singapore's non-profit sector.
Excellence in Eldercare
Singapore's demographics show a rapidly aging population, with people aged 65 and above almost tripling from 7% to 19% of the total populace by 2030. There is an urgent need to ensure a better understanding of age-related diseases, and corresponding availability of good quality eldercare services and facilities. The Lien Foundation supports innovative models of eldercare, particularly in areas like dementia care and palliative care as these have great impact on the elderly and their families/caregivers.
Environmental Sustainability in Water and Sanitation
Access to clean and affordable water supplies, sanitation and hygiene is fundamental to human health and dignity, economic advancement and poverty eradication. Yet, almost a fifth of the world's population does not have safe drinking water, and over 30 per cent lack basic sanitation. The Lien Foundation focuses on environmental sustainability in water and sanitation by working with partners on facility design and installation, water management, knowledge transfer and capacity building.
