Krsna Tan started formal lessons with his father at the tender age of 5 learning the traditional ancient North Indian Sitar style of music popularized by Panditji.
In 2002, at the age of 12, Krsna won first prize in the National Indian Music Competition. He was the youngest and the first non-Indian contestant to achieve such prestigious recognition.
Krsna's music acumen has assumed many dimensions and he can execute and evolve the most intricate combinations with ease.
Today, the Sitar has become synonymous with Krsna. His goal is to share and spread music globally with his Sitar.
Govin Tan has developed a unique, distinguished sense of rhythm with the Tabla.
At the age of 14, Govin won first prize in the National Indian Music Competition(2006) in the Tabla Junior Category. He is also the first non-Indian to do so.He again came in first in the National Indian Music Competition(2008) Tabla Open Category at the age of 16.
With inspiration from his Guru, brother Krsna and father, Govin performs extensively both as a soloist and an accompanist. In Indian classical music he has played with Northern and Southern style Indian musicians, vocalists and dancers. |
