The basketball club and program is organized and managed by Michael Denzel who has been actively involved in the sport of basketball for 30+ years as a player, coach and professional manager. He played Division 1 college ball at Yale in the mid-80’s followed by 3 years of semi-pro ball in Germany. Mike worked 12 years for the NBA, the last 7 as head of Asia, where he led the league’s push into China.

Mike Denzel has been actively involved in the sport of basketball for 30+ years as a player, coach and professional manager. Still an active player today, Mike switches between point and shooting guard, and loves to run the break. He is a big fan of the Phoenix Suns and Steve Nash, and has patterned the FastBreak program, including our name, after their exciting, fast-paced style of basketball.

Among the many hats he wears at FastBreak, Mike also coaches across all three programs.

Mike has lived overseas for more than 20 years, including stops in Heidelberg, (Germany), Geneva, Paris and Hong Kong. He was born in Chicago in 1964.
